005" off from my neck on either side (i.e. So, I bit the bullet and got the Floyd nut. The Mighty Might might have worked, but it was so godawful ugly that I didn't want it on my guitar.
I went back and forth with the measurements, searched for an equivalent Ibanez nut that I heard once existed, and got a cheap Mighty Might nut that was the right size. Floyd makes one nut with that radius, but it's ever so slightly wider than my neck. I have an old custom neck that was originally made for a Floyd, but has a 15" radius.

I went on the Jackson forum and everyone there said it was an R3.įloyd Rose nuts are a subject in themselves. No creaking sound at all now.īut I still would like to have the Genuine Floyd Rose nut put in, but if the width is gonna be a problem I'm not aware of should I send back the R3 and get another size? I also have Floyd Rose shims if needed, I have an original Floyd Rose I just haven't installed it yet and am still using the special but very surprised how well it stays in tune with this nut. I noticed that it did lower the action toward the first fret more, but that's not a problem, no fret buzz because the other one had the action too high on the E string. This one had a Jackson BH43 nut which was crap, the new Jackson BH43 nut is not as wide. It's a Jackson nut, but I do also have a Genuine Floyd Rose R3 I ordered but I have to drill new holes for it work.

I have photos but can't figure out how to upload them here. It's the right size across, like I said with string spacing, it's the right height, just not in width. But I'm asking because I don't know if there are any negative consequences to it? If not, what could I fill that gap with? It actually plays better like this and I don't mind the gap. However, I've noticed it stays in tune now when I do the dive bombs, the string spacing is the same as it was, the other one had the high E string raised up real high, this one doesn't. There is a small gap between it and the first fret due to it not being as wide. I ordered a new nut, which was supposed to be the same exact size, in fact it's the same model numbers and everything but it isn't the same size.
